FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are your notes suitable for my law school and course?

We certainly hope so! All of our notes have been worked on by current and former students from a range of law schools and updated and edited by qualified lawyers with years of experience. Each guide goes through a comprehensive process to ensure that it covers as much of the material for each module in as many ways as possible. Of course, we can’t guarantee that our notes are perfectly-suited to every law school and course out there. Our aim is for every guide to be as suitable to as many law schools as possible – which is why we try to write comprehensive guides rather than separate guides for each law school.

If you are trying to decide whether our notes will suit your course, we recommend that you check the list of topics covered by each of our guides and compare it to your syllabus.

How do your notes compare to other study guides?

Unlike tedious textbooks, we cut through the waffle and get straight to the point. We know what you need to get that top mark - that's the whole point of our guides. They’re written to help you answer exam questions in the way you’re meant to.

Our notes are written by qualified lawyers, for students. We’ve achieved top marks and qualified as lawyers with these guides over ten years ago, and now we have a team of qualified lawyers keeping them updated.

Unlike other brands, we are committed to making our guides the best in the market, and we update our guides frequently and comprehensively. Our team has years of qualified legal experience (including at Magic Circle, city and international firms, as a partner, and as a university careers and skills advisor), and we take on a wealth of current student feedback to make sure our guides are the best they can be.

No other provider of student law notes offers as comprehensive a range as we do at Law Answered.

What’s MyLiveBook? Do you sell electronic copies of your notes?

Yes - we offer digital copies via access to MyLiveBook, a software platform that allows you to annotate and make notes on our guides. Digital access is valid for 3 years from the date of purchases.

Please note that MyLiveBook access is not a downloadable or printable PDF of our notes. You will not be able to copy large sections of our guide or print our materials (similarly to other eReaders).

If you wish to purchase digital access, you can purchase this in combination with our physical guides (a “blended” approach to learning) or as a standalone product by itself.

When you purchase a blended or digital product, your access code will be emailed to you within an hour by our third-party provider, and your physical copy will be posted as usual via your chosen method. Make sure to check your spam filter if your access code has not reached you. Please note that access to MyLiveBook is a lease of our products for 36 months from date of purchase.

Tech support for MyLiveBook can be found on the platform, and if you’re looking for help on how to access MyLiveBook, please click here.

Can I work with you?

Absolutely! We are always looking for new students to work with us to constantly update and improve our guides or to write blogs. We’d also love to hear any feedback you might have, either at the start or the end of your studies. Please do get in touch with us via workwithus@lawanswered.com.

How often do you update your guides?

We update all our LLB, GDL, PGDL, LPC and SQE Core Guides and Case Books at least once per year, typically over the summer so that the latest edition is ready for the forthcoming academic year. We update our LLB and LPC Electives guides on a rolling basis, as some areas of law change much more frequently than other areas.

We also have errata and clarification sheets which highlight any inconsistencies that we have spotted in our guides between editions. If you spot anything you think we could tweak, let us know.

Are you bringing out any more guides soon?

Yes. We’re always commissioning new guides and updating our current guides. You can find out more and keep up to date by liking our facebook page and following our blog, where we post updates whenever new guides are brought out.

Can I see a sample?

Yes. We have samples available for LLB Answered, SQE Answered, GDL Answered, PGDL Answered and LPC Answered.

What’s your email address?

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us via at help@lawanswered.com. Please be aware that we cannot accept large attachments (e.g. photos), so please email us first before sending any pictures or large attachments so that we will definitely see your message.

Which delivery service do you use and how long does it take?

We offer two options at the checkout: Royal Mail or DHL. If you are based in the UK, Royal Mail will be by 1st class unregistered post, so you don’t need to be in to sign for it. Royal Mail can take up to 15 working days, although can be as fast as five working days. DHL is a tracked courier service, which you will need to sign for. For this reason we recommend having DHL deliver to your place of study or work if you are not going to be at home. DHL typically takes three to five working days.

If you are based outside the UK, we offer DHL courier services to all countries, but Royal Mail airmail is only offered to customers in a handful of countries. Royal Mail airmail is an unsigned service that can take up to 25 working days, depending on country. For this reason, we recommend overseas customers to select DHL or digital access at checkout.

Please note that you as a customer as responsible for any duties or import taxes due on guides which are purchased from overseas.

Please note that one or two additional full working days may be required to process and print your order on demand, and that if you place an order in the afternoon, evening or on a weekend then your order will take longer to process. Please note we cannot guarantee these delivery times, and delivery may take longer. We cannot control Royal Mail or DHL once your order is passed to them and regrettably cannot offer compensation if delivery is delayed for reasons outside our control. Our delivery policy is set out in full at lawanswered.com/terms-and-conditions.

Standard DHL delivery times within the UK are shown below (please note these are indicative only, and not guaranteed delivery dates).

Please contact us via help@lawanswered.com if your order has not arrived within the time frame stated for delivery at the checkout (which will also be in your order email confirmation). Please allow an extra one or two days for your guide to arrive over the Christmas and New Year period or around bank holidays (or due to potential coronavirus-related disruption). Our delivery policy is set out in full at lawanswered.com/terms-and-conditions.

I’m buying several guides – can I get a postage discount?

Yes, most of the time. Our postage brackets are based on weight. If you are purchasing our smaller books (LPC Electives and LLB guides) then the postage at checkout will reflect this. However, if you are buying multiple large guide (LPC Core or GDL/PGDL Core Guide and GDL Case Book) then regrettably we are unable to offer postage discounts because it actually costs us more than double to send two large guides in one package – for this reason please be aware that your guides may arrive separately if you order several large guides. Separate packages help us to keep postage costs down, and we pass those savings on to you at the checkout.

I’m having technical issues with your checkout – what should I do?

If you are having technical issues with the "Add to cart" or "Checkout" functions, this may be because you are using an outdated browser - updating your browser (or simply using a different browser) should solve this problem, but please email us if it does not.

I’m having technical issues with MyLiveBook - what should I do?

Please click here to access our instructions page, which has a video at the bottom of that page.

Please allow up to one working day for the access code to be emailed to you (it usually arrives within an hour). Please also check your spam filter to make sure this code has come to you. Please note that the code comes from a third party provider.

If you have any other technical issue, please contact the support team using the chat function on MyLiveBook. Law Answered are not able to provide technical support, so the chat function is your best option.

Please note that access codes need to be redeemed within 3 months of your order being placed. Any codes which have not been redeemed after this time are automatically cancelled for security reasons.

What is your refund policy?

If your guide arrives damaged then we will of course offer you a refund. Otherwise, we’ll accept all returns of guides within two weeks, as long as they reach us in a re-saleable condition (but please email us first via help@lawanswered.com).

You have two weeks to change your mind and return your physical guide for a refund. However, please note that we cannot offer refunds for electronic copies, as once an access code has been generated by our third party provider of the MyLiveBook software, there is nothing that can be done to retract and refund access. If you have purchased a “blended” product (i.e. both the physical and digital version together), then we can offer you a refund for the physical guide, but not for the digital part of the order, meaning we will retain the difference between the blended purchase price and the physical guide-only purchase price.

You can find our full policy at the bottom of the checkout page before you confirm your purchase and via lawanswered.com/terms-and-conditions.

What is your privacy policy?

We will never sell your data on to third parties. The only data we’ll pass on is that which we strictly need to fulfil your order (e.g. to Royal Mail). We’ll treat all your information confidentially, as will our secure payment processing service. We will occasionally email you with updates or offers, but such emails will be rare and you can always ask us to remove you from our mailing list. You can find our full policy at the bottom of the checkout page before you confirm your purchase and via lawanswered.com/terms-and conditions.

Do you sell guides to the BTC or QLTS?

No, but we have had a fair number of BTC customers purchase our guides in order to refresh their memory of the underlying law quickly. We also know a fair number of QLTS students purchase our guides (typically the SQE Core Guide or PGDL Answered and LPC Answered Core Guides) to quickly learn the relevant subject matter, as we understand that many of the topics covered overlap with the QLTS syllabus.

ABOUT US

We wrote our first set of law notes as students in 2012 because we weren't happy with the study guides on the market. None of the other books out there told us what we really needed to know. We knew we could do better. And so the idea for Law Answered was born - exam-focused notes that get to the heart of the matter and cut through the waffle. Written by students, for students.

We used our notes to gain distinctions on the GDL and LPC and qualify as solicitors at top firms - and we think that our notes will help you too. Our Law Answered team has grown to include qualified solicitors with years of experience at top firms, including a former law firm partner and university law school careers and skills advisor.

Both GDL Answered and LPC Answered proved immediately popular. We've continued to work with outstanding students to bring out new guides and to regularly and comprehensively update and improve our guides. We've been writing and rewriting LLB Answered for the past four years with input from current and recent LLB students at top universities, and have written our latest PGDL Answered guide with insight from current students too. We have recently released our very popular SQE Answered Core Guide. We want to make sure that our law notes are as good as they can be for you.

We also have a blog where we share legal updates, insights and tips on helping you on your journey to becoming a lawyer.

We take pride in making sure our notes are the best on the market. If you're a top student and want to work with us, please get in touch via workwithus@lawanswered.com.

Our business is UK-based, using UK suppliers. Our products are packaged in environmentally friendly cardboard.
