Due to the number of courses available, and the changing nature of these courses, please follow the following guidance in helping you find the right revision guide:

If you have an undergraduate NON-law degree

Law conversion courses are generally routed via the GDL, PGDL or SQE.

  • MA Law (conversion) or PGDL Courses are usually a year-long course that gives you a solid foundation in the law; you can then choose your qualification route from here (and qualify as either a Barrister via the BPC or Solicitor via the SQE). You will study the following core subjects in detail: Contract law, Tort, Company Law, Land Law, Public (Administrative & Constitutional) Law, Equity & Trusts, and Criminal Law. Our PGDL Core Guide and Case Book are suitable for these courses.

  • MA Law (SQE) or SQE Courses vary in length and are focussed on the SQE exams. Depending on your law school, you may need to take the PGDL course prior to taking the SQE course. Our SQE1 Answered Core Guide is suitable for these courses.

  • LLM Courses are designed for students wishing to study the law at a more academic level for careers in law, business, finance, and tech but are not generally a direct route to qualification (unless they include LPC / SQE training). LLM Courses cover a wide number of topics across the law, both within the UK and internationally. We have a number of LLB guides and LPC electives that might support you in your studies. We recommend that you compare your syllabus to topic lists - and if in doubt, get in touch so we can help you figure out the best revision guide!

  • Aiming to be a barrister? Most law conversion courses aimed at students who then wish to go on to study the BPC (Barrister’s Practice Course), will find our GDL guides suitable.

If you have an undergraduate law degree (LLB)

If you are looking for a direct route to qualification

  • Solicitor’s Qualifying Exam (SQE) Courses vary in length and are focussed on helping you pass your SQE exams and gain the relevant skills you need to complete your qualifying work experience (QWE). Our SQE1 Answered Core Guide is suitable for these courses.

  • The Legal Practice Course (LPC) route for qualification is still available for students who started their law degree by September 2021. Our LPC Answered Core Guide plus relevant LPC electives are suitable for these courses.

  • Please see above for LLM Courses that are not routed via the LPC and SQE.

If you ARE A QUALIFIED OVERSEAS LAWYER LOOKING TO QUALIFY AS A SOLICITOR IN THE UK

You are likely to need to take the SQE. Our SQE1 Answered Core Guide will be able to support you with your exam prep, whether you are taking an SQE course or self-studying.

The information was impressively well-consolidated - the guide is an invaluable resource for figuring out exactly what it is that we need to know for the exam.

WHY YOU NEED a LAW ANSWERED REVISION GUIDE

  • We help you learn faster: we know you don’t have time to read every single sentence of all the textbooks you’ve got out of the library, so we cut through the waffle and pull out the detail you actually need to know for your exams.

  • Unlike other revision guides, Law Answered strikes the right balance between concise summaries and sufficiently-detailed explanations. Our guides are designed to help you to really understand the law and how best to apply it, using step-by-step answers, flowcharts and other proven learning techniques.

  • Our guides are written with your course in mind.

    • The PGDL, LPC, MA Law and other conversion courses will test you via problem questions, so our guides contain step-by-step guides to answering a problem question.

    • The SQE is tested via multiple choice questions (MCQs) which require a completely different approach to learning.

    • LLB exams and coursework involves problem questions and essays, which is why our guides provide step-by-step worked examples.

    • Other textbooks and course notes only tell you the law, rather than showing you how to apply it for exam success. Our guides walk you through each topic, and show you how to apply that topic to MCQs, essays or problem questions, so whatever your exam, you are 100% ready.

  • Use to learn or to revise. We want to ensure that a career in law is accessible to everyone, so whether you are looking for revision notes to complement your course material, are self-learning, or trying to get a head start on specific topics, our revision notes are designed to help you learn exactly what you need to know so you can smash your studies.

  • Our Core Guides are fully updated at least once a year by a team of qualified solicitors - Law Answered guides are updated by a number of qualified solicitors at top city firms, including a former partner and university law school careers and skills advisor. The tax and accounts sections are updated by a qualified chartered accountant.

You’re in safe hands - we’ve sold nearly 100,000 revision guides. Join the thousands of law students we’ve helped to smash their studies and grab your guide today.
