ABOUT SQE ANSWERED

Our SQE Answered Core Guide is a set of notes for the solicitor’s qualifying exam (SQE). Our guide covers the entire SQE1 syllabus for both Functional Legal Knowledge (FLK) 1 & 2 exams. A list of specific topics covered is below or in detail here.

Our notes cut through the waffle and explain core legal concepts clearly and concisely, leaving you able to tackle your SQE1 exams with confidence, by giving you the knowledge you ACTUALLY need to know for exam success.

Each topic is addressed in one (or both) of two formats to match the way in which the SQE course is examined:

  • as an explanation and summary of the topic. This is to help you understand the core points of complex topics in order to answer multiple-choice questions; and/or

  • as a step by step guide to answering an “MCQ question”. This is to help you get straight to the point and answer MCQ exam questions efficiently.

Our guides are comprehensively rewritten and updated each year by qualified lawyers with input from top SQE students from a range of law schools.

We also sell a range of SQE electives, which are suitable for students sitting an optional extra SQE module as part of an enhanced SQE course, or for preparing to work in a specific area of the law (e.g. for a job interview or a new training contract seat).

KEY FEATURES OF OUR SQE GUIDES

  • Step-by-step guidance to help you smash your MCQ exams.

  • Clear summaries of all the relevant black-letter law and cases, along with flowcharts and diagrams.

  • Explanations of the key legal concepts and procedures that solicitors must understand and follow.

  • Regularly updated by a team of qualified solicitors.

The information was impressively well-consolidated - the guide is an invaluable resource for figuring out exactly what it is that we need to know for the exam.

WHY YOU NEED SQE ANSWERED

  • We help you learn faster: we know you don’t have time to read every single sentence of all the textbooks you’ve got out of the library, so we cut through the waffle and pull out the detail you actually need to know for your exams.

  • Unlike other revision guides, SQE Answered strikes the right balance between concise summaries and sufficiently-detailed explanations. SQE Answered is designed to help you to really understand the law and how best to apply it, using step-by-step answers, flowcharts and other proven learning techniques.

  • SQE Answered is written with MCQs in mind. The SQE multiple choice questions (MCQs) need to be answered in a certain way – but other textbooks and course notes only tell you the law, rather than showing you how to apply it for exam success. That’s why our guides walk you through each topic, and show you how to apply that topic to MCQs, so you are 100% ready for your exams.

  • Use to learn or to revise. We want to ensure that a career in law is accessible to everyone, so whether you are looking for SQE revision notes to complement your SQE course material, or are self-learning for the SQE, our revision notes are designed to help you learn exactly what you need to know so you can smash your studies.

  • Our Core Guide is fully updated at least once a year by a team of qualified solicitors - Law Answered guides are updated by a number of qualified solicitors at top firms, including a former partner and university law school careers and skills advisor. The tax and accounts sections are updated by a qualified chartered accountant.

You’re in safe hands - we’ve sold nearly 100,000 revision guides. Join the thousands of law students we’ve helped to smash their studies and grab your guide today.

FINDING THE RIGHT PRODUCT FOR YOU

We know that everyone learns differently, so we’ve produced our guide in a number of different formats: a bundle of three printed guides, a loose-leaf folder, and an interactive online digital copy. See our shop for more details on these options.

Our first set of guides covering the SQE1 (FLK1 and FLK2) materials are now available.

We’re also working on a multiple-choice questions platform to help you prepare for taking multiple-choice assessments - these will be available in autumn 2023. We will be looking for beta testers, so make sure you join our SQE mailing list (see below) for the chance to be part of this (and for early access to SQE Answered).

SELF-STUDY FOR THE SQE WITH LAW ANSWERED

One of the great things about the SQE is that students can self-study without having to pay enormous law school fees. We are keen to improve access to the law and think the SQE will be a step in the right direction - so we want to support that by offering reasonably priced guides that students can use as part of their SQE prep. We are keen to make sure that our guides will be the best SQE materials available anywhere.

(In fact, our guides are so good that we are also providing SQE content to a law school and other course providers!)

Bought this a couple of weeks before my exam and it was truly a lifesaver! It’s got great summaries and walks you through how to apply knowledge. Recommend it to any law student out there.
